What is Zinga?
Zinga is a single-component film galvanising system β not a paint. It deposits a zinc-rich coating that provides cathodic (sacrificial) protection to steel and iron, working the same way as hot-dip galvanising but applied cold, on-site, to new or existing structures.
How It Works
With 96% zinc in the dry film, Zinga acts as a sacrificial anode: the zinc corrodes preferentially, protecting the underlying steel even when the coating is scratched or damaged. This self-healing action means the steel remains protected at cut edges, welds, and abrasion points β without reapplication.
Key Benefits
- Cathodic protection β active zinc defence, not just a barrier coating
- Self-healing β protects exposed steel at damaged areas automatically
- Single-component β no mixing, no pot life concerns
- No primer required β apply directly to prepared steel
- Weldable & cuttable β steel can be worked after application without losing protection
- Overcoatable β compatible with topcoats including Zinga Aluminium Paint for enhanced UV and chemical resistance
- Touch-up of hot-dip galvanising β ideal for repairing damaged or cut galvanised surfaces
Applications
- Structural steel β beams, columns, frames, and fabrications
- Pipelines β above-ground, buried, and subsea
- Marine structures β jetties, pontoons, offshore equipment
- Bridges, tanks, and storage vessels
- Maintenance and repair of existing galvanised coatings
- Welds and cut edges on galvanised steel
Application Methods
Zinga can be applied by brush, roller, or airless spray. Surface preparation to Sa 2.5 (near-white blast cleaning) is recommended for maximum adhesion and corrosion protection. Apply in conditions between 5Β°C and 40Β°C with relative humidity below 85%.
Available Sizes
Supplied in 1kg, 2kg, 5kg, 10kg, and 25kg containers to suit projects of all scales β from maintenance touch-ups to large structural applications.
