Can shingles be used on low pitched roofs?
Low pitched roofs are considered to be roofs with a minimum pitch or slope of less than 20 degrees. Our laminated shingles having gone through vigorous innovation and testing can be used on roof pitch as low as 9 degrees.
Will my shingles roof be hot?
All shingles roof MUST be properly ventilated to ensure heat and vapour generated by human presence is dissipated. We offer approved ventilators which are installed during the roof installation process.
Are shingles noisy when it rains?
REXE roofing shingles are highly rated as noise resistant. This is because they do not contain a metal base, additionally, shingles have a decking that also acts as a good sound barrier.
Are roofing shingles fire resistant?
Yes, REXE roofing shingles are fire resistant, the fire rating reaction stands at class E and external fire performance is Broof (T1)
How much does it cost to roof using shingles?
To estimate the shingles required for your roof, you calculate the roof area then divide by the area that each bundle covers.

Do I need an APP membrane when using roofing shingles?
No, we have a special light weight and economical underlay for protection of the shingle decking armourbase eco which is completely water tight.
What are roofing shingles fixed on?
Shingles can be fixed on a nailable concrete screed or a firm decking such as our OSB boards which have a high moisture resistance rating. The minimum thickness should be 12mm. The wooden decking can be fixed on a timber support structure or a light gauge steel structure.
What kind of nails do I need when installing a shingles roof?
Corrosion resistant nails are the only approved method of fixing shingles on a wooded decking with a head diameter of 10 mm and 20-25mm length.
Special concrete nails are also available when fixing shingles on a nailable concrete slab.
Do not use staples to fix shingles as trying to save money by using the wrong fastener will cost you more in the future repairing the entire roof.
Nails can be made of:
- Aluminum.
- Copper.
- Stainless steel, or.
- Galvanized steel (zinc-coated)
Do shingles require any kind of maintenance?
With proper installation and high-quality roofing shingles, shingles require little to no maintenance.
Can I harvest water from my shingles roof?
Yes. REXE roofing shingles do not contain any harmful chemicals or asbestos. This means that you can collect water for domestic use, we however recommend that the water be filtered to get rid of naturally occurring impurities.
