Cable Protectors, Dock Bumpers & Parking Protection: A Buying Guide

A cable crossing, a loading bay and a parking space need different types of protection. Start with three questions: what needs protecting, what moves through the area, and where is contact likely?

This guide helps you choose cable protectors, dock bumpers, parking blocks and corner guards for workplaces and parking areas in Kenya.

Quick pick

Location or task Product to consider Main checks
Cables or hoses crossing an access route Cable protector Channel dimensions, traffic and documented load rating
Vehicle contact at a loading bay Dock bumper Contact height, projection and mounting
Positioning vehicles within parking bays Parking block or wheel stop Vehicle clearance, layout and fixings
Exposed corners or columns Corner guard or protector Profile, coverage and intended application

Cable protectors: fit and traffic matter

BOLD Industrial's range includes two- and three-channel cable protectors. Measure each cable or hose and check the usable channel width and height. Allow for any fittings that must pass through, and make sure the lid can close without squeezing the lines.

Identify the expected traffic, from pedestrians and trolleys to vehicles. Ask for the exact model's documented load rating: a figure per tyre or axle is not total vehicle weight. Channel count alone does not indicate load capacity.

For longer crossings, check section lengths, connectors and ramp options. Consider wheelchair access and wheeled equipment too; a standard cable ramp does not automatically provide an accessible crossing.

Dock bumpers: match the loading bay

Dock bumpers help reduce contact damage where vehicles meet a loading bay. Selection depends on dock height, vehicle types, approach slope and frequency of use.

Check the bumper's dimensions and projection, meaning how far it stands out from the mounting face. Photograph existing contact marks and nearby loading equipment. Have a competent installer assess the mounting arrangement and supporting structure for the particular bay.

Parking blocks: plan the stopping position

Parking blocks, or wheel stops, help position vehicles within a bay. When comparing BOLD's Parking Block and Plastic Fiber Parking Block, confirm the supplied material, dimensions and fixing requirements.

Choose the position around vehicle overhang, low bodywork and nearby walls or landscaping. Include pedestrian routes and drainage in the layout. Follow the specified fixing method for your surface, and confirm whether suitable anchors are included.

Corner guards: match the contact area

The range includes corner protectors, the CC-C02 model and an EVA square corner guard. Measure the corner profile and required coverage, then identify the likely contact height and source.

Choose for the intended application: incidental contact from people or carts differs from vehicle or handling-equipment exposure. Confirm material, fixing method and environmental suitability. Visibility markings help identify a corner but do not establish an impact rating.

Speed humps, cones and convex mirrors can complement the layout. Assess them separately for traffic speed, temporary guidance or visibility, rather than as substitutes for cable covers or impact guards.
