ZINGA FAQ – Cold Galvanizing Protection

What is Zinga?

Zinga is a cold galvanizing system made from highpurity zinc dust. It provides cathodic protection similar to hotdip galvanizing by forming a sacrificial zinc layer that protects steel from corrosion.

How Does Zinga Work?

Zinc particles in Zinga sacrifice themselves to protect the underlying steel. Even if scratched, the coating continues to offer corrosion protection.

Where Can Zinga Be Used?

·         Structural steel frameworks

·         Tanks, silos & factory platforms

·         Marine and coastal installations

·         Bridges and towers

·         Repair of previously galvanized surfaces

How Is Zinga Applied?

Zinga can be applied by: - Brush - Roller - Spray gun

Do I Need a Solvent?

Yes. Use Zingasolv. - Brush: 60 ml per 1 kg Zinga - Spray: 175 ml per 1 kg Zinga

How Much Surface Area Does 1kg Cover?

1.5 m² to 2.5 m² depending on surface profile and film thickness.

What Surface Preparation Is Needed?

·         Degrease the surface thoroughly

·         Mechanically/abrasively clean (ideally to Sa 2½)

·         Remove rust, scale, old coatings

·         Ensure the surface is clean, dry and dustfree before application

How Long Does Zinga Take to Dry?

·         Touch dry: 10–20 minutes (depending on temperature and humidity)

·         Dry to handle: Approximately 2 hours

·         Fully cured for overcoating: 24–48 hours

Can Zinga Be Applied Without Dismantling Structures?

Yes. It can be applied on-site, making it ideal for fixed, large or hard-to-reach installations.

How Long Does It Last?

With correct preparation and application, Zinga can deliver 10–20+ years of corrosion protection depending on the environment.

Is Zinga Cost-Effective?

Though costlier upfront than traditional primers, Zinga significantly reduces long-term maintenance, downtime and replacement costs—best for permanent structures.

Can Zinga Be Overcoated?

Yes. After curing, Zinga can be used as a primer in a duplex system.

Is Zinga Environmentally Friendly?

Zinga contains no lead or chromates and meets international safety standards.
